The Patriot Guard Riders are invited to Stand in Honor for Lt Col Raymond Opincarne (Ret), US Air Force WWII, Korea, and Vietnam Veteran on Wednesday, May 28th, 2025 for his funeral service at 10:00AM at Shrine of Remembrance, 1730 E Fountain Blvd, Colorado Springs CO 80910, and his burial service at 11:30AM at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 Hancock Expressway, Colorado Springs CO 80903.
Lt Col Opincarne was Romanian and from Youngstown Ohio, one of of nine siblings. All his brothers served in WWII, and he volunteered to go, despite being the youngest son and therefore excused from overseas duty. He was a pilot whose service included flying "the hump" beween India and China. He was flying over the Himalayas when he received word that the war was over. Raymond received a Bronze Star in Vietnam. He retired from the Air Force in 1970, then became a military contractor and worked in Saudi Arabia. He wrote his own obituary and died two months shy of his 104th birthday.
