The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to stand in honor at the Interment Service for Margaret Katherine McDuff at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 South Sheridan Blvd., Denver, 80236, on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at 1:15PM, Committal Shelter C.
Ms. McDuff was born on October 24, 1924 and died on December 16, 2022 at the age of 98. She served in the US Cadet Nurse Corps from July, 1943 until July, 1945.
U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps, the Nation's first integrated uniformed US Service Corps, fulfilled an urgent need for nurses during World War II. At that time, many nurses were called overseas to military service, and other women were attracted to the defense industry, while understaffed civilian hospitals in the United States were on the verge of collapse.
By 1945, Cadet Nurses were providing 80% of the nursing care in US Hospitals. Today their legacy lives on. Nearly 125,000 Cadet Nurses were trained between 1943 and 1948.
