The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to Stand in Honor for Capt. Gerry H. Spaulding, US Navy, Retired, and Vietnam Veteran for his services on Friday, Jan-6, 11:00AM at Pikes Peak National Cemetery, 10545 Drennan Rd., Colorado Springs, CO.
Gerry Spaulding had a decorated Naval career that spanned three decades. He joined the USNR (Aviation Reserve Officer Candidate) in 1965 while he finished college at Southern Colorado State and completed OCS (Officer Candidate School) in Pensacola, Florida. He was commissioned as an Officer in the USNR as Ensign Spaulding. In 1971 he was discharged from the USNR, and transferred to the US Navy as a Lieutenant. His USN career continued until his retirement in 1993. He was in the Vietnam War flying Market Time combat surveillance patrols in an effort to stop the flow of troops, war material, and supplies by sea, coast, and rivers, from North Vietnam into parts of South Vietnam and the South China Sea. He would spend two deployments in Naha, Okinawa and Naval Air Station Cubi Point, Philippines.

Sincere appreciation for the US Navy Career and Vietnam Service of Gerry Spaulding. The loss of someone who served and sacrificed is tragic and all Patriotic Americans are forever in their debt. Thankful for the sacrifices made by their families, as well. These Heroes gave up so much in order to preserve our freedoms and to ensure our safety and security. They have earned our recognition and respect. They will be greatly missed, but, will never be forgotten. May their family and friends achieve peace along with our enduring gratitude.
