The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to Stand in Honor for Richard Kay, USMC and WWII Veteran, for his Celebration of Life service on Saturday, 15 April, 3:00PM at American Legion Post 38, 6685 Southmoor Dr, Fountain, CO 80817.
Richard W. Kay is the grandfather of SSgt. John Doles. SSgt Doles' funeral service was the original mission which led to the creation of the Patriot Guard, after he was KIA in Afghanistan and protesters announced they were coming to disrupt his funeral.
Richard is Susan Appleman's father, Susan is John Doles mother and member, along with her husband James 'Jiffy' Appleman, at American Legion Post 38. Susan and Jiffy have been strong supporters and good friends of the PGR since our inception. In June of 2022, the PGR participated in a 100th Birthday Ride-by and visit for Richard.

Sincere appreciation for the US Marine Corps and WWII Service of Richard Kay. The loss of someone who served and sacrificed is tragic and all Patriotic Americans are forever in their debt. Thankful for the sacrifices made by their families, as well. These Heroes gave up so much in order to preserve our freedoms and to ensure our safety and security. They have earned our recognition and respect. They will be greatly missed, but, will never be forgotten. May their family and friends achieve peace along with our enduring gratitude.
