The Colorado PGR has been invited to this event for the past several years. It was not held in 2020 due to Coronavirus concerns. This Celebration has always been very well organized and has been a positive experience for the attendees. If you plan to attend, please be sure to RSVP no later than November 8th and remember to take a facial covering.
Veterans Day Celebration
Thursday, November 11, 2021 Mission Viejo Elementary 3855 South Alicia Parkway Aurora, CO 80013 On Thursday, November 11, 2021, Mission Viejo Elementary will host our 15th annual Veterans Day Celebration. We would like to invite veterans from our school family and community to join us for this very special day. Please feel free to invite neighbors, family, friends, teachers, etc. Everyone is welcome! The tentative agenda will be as follows: 7:30AM-8:30AM Breakfast in the library for veterans 8:30AM-9:30AM Assembly with all students in the gym 9:45AM-10:45AM Classroom visits (share stories, medals, pictures, Q&A *) 11:00AM-12:30PM Lunch & fellowship with fellow veterans * Please, do not bring any weapons, real or fake. You may participate as little or as much as you would like. You may stay just for the assembly or stay with us all day. You may wear your uniform (which the kids LOVE) or just bring it with you to show. This day is about you, our veterans. No matter how long you decide to stay or how much you decide to participate, I promise that the tribute from our students will be memorable. If you choose to join us for breakfast, please note that school begins at 800. Please schedule your arrival time before or after that so you do not get caught up in our drop-off traffic. It is imperative that I receive an RSVP from any of our veterans who will be joining us as I must plan accordingly for lunch, space and a very special surprise. Please RSVP no later than Monday, November 8, 2021 to: Sandy Roberts at sroberts28@cherrycreekschools.org or 720-670-6031 (call or text). We would like to invite all of our families to join us for the assembly celebrating our brave men and women in uniform. Even if you are not a veteran I am confident that you will be moved by the amazing tribute that our students pay to our veterans We will also display our “Wall of Honor” featuring photographs of our veterans. The “Wall” will be on display from November 1 until November 15. Anyone is welcome to turn in pictures of your US veteran family members, friends and neighbors to be displayed. We hope to fill every space on the wall this year. There is plenty of room so start sending them in now. Please be sure the pictures are marked with student’s name and teacher, so that I am able to return these photos to you. Please note that masks will be mandatory for all visitors regardless of vaccination status. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or ideas. I am looking forward to hearing from you soon.
