On Saturday, December 18, 2021, Wreaths will be placed on the graves of Military Heroes, all across the United States of America. Again this year, the Patriot Guard Riders of Colorado has signed up to be a fundraising group in order to assist in the sponsorship of Wreaths. This arrangement is beneficial for two outstanding organizations. For each $15.00 Wreath purchased, $10.00 will go toward the purchase of the Wreath and the Colorado PGR will receive a $5.00 donation for each Wreath sponsored.
If you wish to sponsor a Wreath using the Colorado PGR Fundraising Group (CO0070P), please click on the following link: https://wreathsacrossamerica.org/CO0070P. Once you sponsor a Wreath using CO0070P, you can request placement at either Fort Logan National Cemetery, Pikes Peak National Cemetery or Fort Lyon National Cemetery.
Also, in Grand Junction, the Colorado PGR has been a fundraising group for a number of years. If you choose to sponsor Wreaths for the Western Colorado Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Grand Junction, please enter CO0003.
If any of you have questions or problems, please contact me at 303-518-8790 or jwherst@aol.com. Whether you decide to use the Colorado PGR or any other fundraising group, the obvious goal is to place as many wreaths as possible and your sponsorship is greatly appreciated. Please use the same contact information if you are not able to attend on December 18th, but, wish to have a Wreath placed on a specific grave. Simply provide the full name of the Veteran, the Cemetery section and site number.
For those who plan to help with the placement of the Wreaths on December 18th, there is a brief ceremony when each Wreath is placed. Once placed, the name the Veteran is spoken and either a hand salute or hand over the heart is rendered.
The deadline for ordering a Wreath for placement on December 18th will be Tuesday, November 30, 2021.
Thank you for your past and continued support.

Thanks to those who assisted with wreath placement, this morning. With our members and the Young Marines, I believe we had almost forty volunteers. We will reconvene on January 15, 2022 for wreath removal. I will be posting those details soon.
Jim
The Colorado PGR, with the assistance of the Young Marines, will be placing 273 Grave Specific wreaths on Saturday, December 18, 2021. The GS wreaths will be released beginning at 8:00AM. Several of you have volunteered your pick up trucks. With my truck and that of Ralph Walters and Steve DeBoer, we should have adequate capacity for the initial retrieval. Those who will also be bringing their trucks can help with the relocation of the wreaths throughout the Cemetery. The waiting line for the GS wreaths is likely to be long. It would be best to meet off the Cemetery site and travel in a caravan into the Cemetery. Ralph and Steve, let's meet in the YMCA parking lot at 7:00AM. The YMCA is at Kenyon and Sheridan. Once we have gathered our wreaths, we will meet our waiting volunteers near the exit of Shelter A (Logan Blvd. and Montana Street).
We will have 24 lists with 10 to 12 gravesites per list. They will in section order so that we will not have to move throughout the entire Cemetery.
As always, when we place the wreaths, we, as appropriate, place our hand over our heart or render a hand salute and say the rank and name of the hero and thank them for their service and sacrifice.
We have reservations for 40 volunteers. If asked if you are a registered volunteer when you enter Fort Logan, following are our reservation numbers:
COFLND-88416
COFLND-90251
COFLND-132338
Thanks for your continuing support.
