Robert L. Waples, age 93, went home to be with the Lord on May 2, 2021. Born in Mildred, Pa. he lived in Suffield for 69 years. Bob graduated from St. Basil in Dushore Pa. and was also a graduate from Bohecker’s Business School. He enlisted in the Navy at age 17 during World War II. Bob retired from Goodyear after 30 plus years of service. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Goodyear Flying Club, and a member of Alcoholics Anonymous. Bob enjoyed going to Hamburger Station every day for breakfast, playing Euchre at Springfield Senior Center and 20 plus years of flying with the Goodyear Flying Club. Bob is survived by his wife of 69 years, Lois (Fulweber) Waples; children, Patricia Bronikowski, Catherine (Kenneth) Giebel, Robert Michael (Nancy) Waples, Thomas Waples, Joseph (Laurel) Waples, James (Sherry) Waples, and Caroline (John) Steiner; 16 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; one great grandchild; and his brother, Eugene Waples. Calling hours will be Thursday, May 6, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2643 Waterloo Road, Mogadore, OH 44260. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. with Father Thomas J. Acker, S.J. officiating. Due to COVID, masks and social distancing guidelines will be followed. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s cemetery in Ravenna. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church.

My condolenes to the family and friends this proud US Navy and WWII Veteran, Robert L (Bob) Waples. Sorry for your loss. I am thankful for his service and sacrifices to this grean nation. Having known his son Robert and his wife Nancy, it shows an amazing set of parents, if all the Children in the family are as good and kind, as Bob and Nancy. Rest easy sailor, your watch is complete.
