The current plan is to remove wreaths from Fort Logan National Cemetery and other National and Veterans Cemeteries on Saturday, January 16, 2021. Extreme safety measures were utilized when the wreaths were placed. Details relating to removal will be available to us after the Holidays and will be posted at that time. Our members/volunteers placed more than 850 wreaths from December 16th through December 20th. Ideally, we will have a sufficient number of volunteers to remove at least that many wreaths.
We have a confirmed time and location for wreath removal on Saturday, January 16th, 2021. We will begin removal at 10:00AM.
Please plan to meet at the Visitors Center, for Instructions, by 9:30AM.
It will be helpful to bring a broom (for stacking and transferring wreaths), wagon, etc., to make the removal process more efficient.
Pickup trucks, that can aid in the transfer of wreaths to the dumpsters, will be helpful.
Please post if you plan to assist with wreath removal.
Over the past five days, our group was fortunate to obtain twelve reservations for wreath placements. Even though the 2020 process was so restricted and so different, it was still a very emotional and honorable event. I would like to thank all of our members who volunteered. Sincere thanks, as well, to the Young Marines, their family members and mentors who gave us a huge assist on Sunday, December 20th, when we placed 250 Grave Specific wreaths. These Grave Specifics included all known military men and women (117), interred at Fort Logan, who were Killed In Action, Killed In Service or died as a result of their Service (from all wars).
Best wishes to each and every Colorado PGR member.
