Please join me in welcoming Marie Glitz as our most recently named Ride Captain. She will be supporting Southern Colorado. I have been honored to stand with Marie on two or three occasions. She is a positive influence and deeply committed to supporting our active Military, Veterans and First Responders. She is an excellent and welcome addition to our Leadership Team. Thanks Marie, for taking on this important role.
Marie Glitz is the daughter and wife of Air Force veterans. Stationed around the world with her father, a Vietnam Veteran, and later with her husband, this Colorado native returned home after more than forty years to settle in the Rocky Mountains near her family. As a military spouse, she volunteered with various base organizations, enjoyed the adventure of life and travel overseas, and is still relishing many close friendships forged along the way. Attending college classes over many years and miles, she eventually graduated with a degree in the history and philosophy of medicine. After working in a medical office and later for a major university, she visited cities across the US and internationally in her position as managing editor of an academic journal. Her husband’s reassignment to the east coast allowed her the opportunity to become deeply involved with Honor Flight. Marie aided the local leadership in many aspects of receiving veterans from around the country as they arrived at and departed from DC-area airports. She greeted hundreds of Honor Flights, always humbled and honored to show respect and gratitude to the men and women who served during wartime, and especially to offer a heartfelt “welcome home” to Vietnam Veterans. Following her husband’s retirement, Marie enthusiastically encouraged the couple’s long-held interest in the Patriot Guard Riders, first in northern New Mexico and now in Southern Colorado, again enjoying the company of those who come together to honor and serve the veteran community and the families of the fallen. Marie has one parachute jump to her credit, finds science and medical topics interesting, is happy to meet animals, is moved by the natural landscape, and appreciates beauty in all its forms. She also enjoys the view from the princess seat of her husband’s Harley.
Thanks, Bob. I think...will I still be smiling after the surprises?
Marie,
Congrats. Be prepared for more surprises to come. Great to have your smiling face on board with us. I look forward to seeing you tomorrow.
Can Do Bob
Welcome to the Team.
Congratulations Marie - I really enjoyed meeting you and your husband and the rest of your group out in Arriba two weeks ago. I know that you will make a great Ride Captain and I look forward to joining you and your group on future occasions.
Marie, aka 'Autobahn', Congratulations on becoming an RC for us. We are all happy to have you in this roll with us, and you have our full confidence. Thank You for stepping up to this position to help us all out.
I recognize that name! She really is dedicated and will do a wonderful job in her new position. Her husband is proud of her.
Marie, thank you for taking on the challenge of trying to herd cats. Most of us tend to be in your fathers age group but still think like we’re in our 20’s. Of course that comment really doesn’t include the PGR Leadership. I’m looking forward to meeting you and your husband. Also wanted to thank you for your 40 years of service to this country. Respectfully, Dave McCabe, ride captain in the Denver area and as needed.
Congratulations Marie. We are blessed to have you.
Marie, sincere thanks for agreeing to join our Leadership team. You will be a great addition.
