The Colorado Patriot Guard Riders will be hosting the fifth Annual Toy Run to collect toys and gifts for families of fallen service members. As in the past, all donations will go direct to the Tragedy Assistance Program/Survivor Outreach Services (TAPS/SOS) operation on Fort Carson, which in turn serves all military branches and covers a five state region.
While combat related deaths have fortunately subsided, PTSD and other related stresses have not for many, and the tragedy associated with this is still very real. Fort Carson alone loses over two Soldiers per week, many leaving behind young families and children. Our efforts with this event not only directly help the surviving children, but also helps to ease the burden of a surviving parent. Whatever our members can do to support this is greatly appreciated.
This Run will take place on Saturday, October 31, 2020 and the details are posted on both the Southern Colorado and Metro calendars. Toys, gifts and gift cards will still be collected for delivery to Fort Carson, no later than Sunday, November 15th. For those in the Metro area who wish to provide support for these military families, please bring your unwrapped toys, gifts and gift cards to one of the upcoming Missions at Fort Logan National Cemetery. If you are unable to attend a Mission, but, wish to provide a toy or gift, I will meet you at a central location at 9:30AM, on Friday, November 13, 2020, in the parking lot that is directly east of the Olinger - Crown Hill Funeral Home at Wadsworth Blvd. and West 29th Avenue.
