The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to stand in honor at the Funeral Service for Hugh Warren Pitzer, Jr. at Saint Rosa's Catholic Church, 326 CO-119, Nederland, 80466, on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 11:00AM.
Mr. Pitzer was born on September 30, 1933 and died on January 3, 2022 at the age of 88. He served in the US Navy aboard the USS Ross from 1951 until 1954. He retired from the Washington, DC Metropolitan Police Department after 22 years and then became a Police K-9 trainer. He resumed his LEO career, serving as a Nederland Marshall from 1979 until 1984. From 1984 until 1986 he was the Mayor of Nederland.

Sincere appreciation for the US Navy Service and Law Enforcement Career of former Nederland Mayor Hugh Pitzer, Jr. The loss of someone who served and sacrificed is tragic and all Patriotic Americans are forever in their debt. Thankful for the sacrifices made by their families, as well. These Heroes gave up so much in order to preserve our freedoms and to ensure our safety and security. They have earned our recognition and respect. They will be greatly missed, but, will never be forgotten. May their family and friends achieve peace along with our enduring gratitude.
