The Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to stand in honor at the Funeral Service for Donald D. Poor at Horan & McConaty Funeral Home, 11150 East Dartmouth Avenue, Aurora, 80014, on Friday, April 28, 2023 at 11:30AM.
Mr. Poor was born on August 25, 1947 and died on December 24, 2022 at the age of 75. He retired from the Aurora Police Department in 2002 after 31 years of Service. During his career he served as a patrol officer, helicopter pilot, FTO (field training officer), in the Detective Bureau working burglaries and robberies. He was later assigned to the Vice and Narcotics Unit for 17 years, which included a 3 year assignment to the Federal DEA task force. After leaving the narcotics unit, Don returned as a patrol officer to conclude his 31 year career. 10:15AM - Stage at Horan & McConaty (Family expected to arrive by 10:30AM) 10:45AM - Mission Briefing 11:00AM - Form Flag Line at the entrance to the Funeral Home

Sincere appreciation for the Law Enforcement Career of Donald Poor. The loss of someone who served and sacrificed is tragic and all Americans are forever in their debt. Thankful for the sacrifices made by their families, as well. These Heroes gave up so much in order to ensure our safety and security. They have earned our recognition and respect. They will be greatly missed, but, will never be forgotten. May their family and friends achieve peace along with our enduring gratitude.
