The placing of Flags on each grave at Fort Logan National Cemetery did not take place, this year, due to Coronavirus restrictions. Approximately 9,000 Flags were placed on Saturday by volunteers. Those 9,000 Flags will need to be removed on Tuesday, May 26th.
This will not be an official Colorado PGR event, but, volunteers will be needed to recover the Flags. If you are available, please plan to arrive at Fort Logan National Cemetery by 8:00AM. Chris Boyer led the effort to place the Flags and will be available to identify the sections where Flags were placed and the appearance/size of the Flags that will be retrieved. It will be important to leave Flags that were placed by family and friends.
If you have empty cartons, please bring them for Flag storage. Also, bring sting or rubber bands in order to bundle the Flags.
A reminder to adhere to spacing guidelines and to have a face covering at the ready if it is difficult to maintain spacing guidelines.
Also, there will be Interment Services taking place on Tuesday. Please be sensitive to that if you are gathering Flags near one of the Committal Shelters. Make sure there are no Services in process as you approach the Shelters.
Thanks.
