On Saturday, October 21, 2023, a Rocky Mountain Honor Flight, with 30 Veterans, will be returning from Washington, DC via Baltimore, MD to Denver International Airport. The Colorado Patriot Guard has been invited to the Welcome Home Ceremony. A Flag line will be formed where the escalators bring the passengers from the train platform to the Arrival Level at the center of the Main Terminal. The flight is scheduled to arrive at 6:10PM, so, we will stage near the escalators by 5:45PM.
An impressive Welcome Home at DIA completes a memorable experience for these Veterans.
Will an available Ride Captain please post.
I will be honored to attend and will bring Flags.
Staging will take place at the Final Approach waiting facility, 7680 North Wenatchee Street, 80249, which is located across the parking lot from the DIA Phillips 66 Gas Station. There are fast food restaurants within this facility and it has the arrival/departure monitors there, as well. Please plan for a 5:15PM briefing with a 5:30PM departure to the East Terminal. These flights are subject to delay, therefore, it would be wise to check the Southwest Airlines schedule for Flight #2289 before you leave home.
The Honor Flight Network was formed in 2005 with a mission of honoring our nation’s veterans by taking them to Washington, DC to visit the memorials and monuments dedicated to their service and sacrifice. While originally focused on honoring our nation’s World War II veterans, the Honor Flight Network now also honors those who served in the Korean War, Vietnam War, intermediary operations, and in special cases of terminal illness or injury, veterans from more recent service eras. Since its formation, the Honor Flight Network has taken 275,000 veterans to Washington DC. Today, the Honor Flight Network is currently comprised of 125 hubs throughout the country dedicated to carrying out the Honor Flight mission and the Network, as a whole, serves 22,000 veterans each year.
