The Colorado Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to stand in honor for CSM Gerald A. Janis, US Army, Special Forces, (retired) for his funeral and interment on Thursday, 16 June.
Jerry first served in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne Division in 1966 – 1967. He later served in the 11th, 7th and 10th Special Forces Group, retiring from active service in 1999.
This will be a 2 part mission.
Part 1, Ft. Carson
7:45AM Stage, Gate 1, Visitors Center, Ft. Carson (Near Flag Pole)
8:00AM Briefing
8:15AM Proceed as group to Soldiers Memorial Chapel and set Flag Line
'Damnit Jim' Balcerovich will serve as Ride Captain for Part 1
Rich 'Honor Man' Blackaby will bring Flags
Part 2, Pikes Peak National Cemetery, 10545 Drennan Rd., Colorado Springs, CO.
10:15AM Stage, PPNC, SE of Admin building
10:30AM Relocate to Committal Shelter
10:45AM Briefing and set Flag Line
Larry 'Da Boots' Koenig will serve as Ride Captain.
Note for Part 1, Ft. Carson or DOD ID/Pass needed. Riders must have helmet, eye protection, long sleeves, full finger gloves, full length pants/jeans, and over ankle boots.
Also, no Firearms on person/bike/vehicle. If you typically carry, leave it at home.

Sincere appreciation for the US Army, Special Forces Career of Gerald Janis. The loss of someone who served and sacrificed is tragic and all Patriotic Americans are forever in their debt. Thankful for the sacrifices made by their families, as well. These Heroes gave up so much in order to preserve our freedoms and to ensure our safety and security. They have earned our recognition and respect. They will be greatly missed, but, will never be forgotten. May their family and friends achieve peace along with our enduring gratitude.
