The current plan is to remove wreaths from Fort Logan National Cemetery and other National and Veterans Cemeteries on Saturday, January 16, 2021. Extreme safety measures were utilized when the wreaths were placed. Details relating to removal will be available to us after the Holidays and will be posted at that time. Our members/volunteers placed more than 850 wreaths from December 16th through December 20th. Ideally, we will have a sufficient number of volunteers to remove at least that many wreaths.
We have a confirmed time and location for wreath removal on Saturday, January 16th, 2021. We will begin removal at 10:00AM.
Please plan to meet at the Visitors Center, for Instructions, by 9:30AM.
It will be helpful to bring a broom (for stacking and transferring wreaths), wagon, etc., to make the removal process more efficient.
Pickup trucks, that can aid in the transfer of wreaths to the dumpsters, will be helpful.
Please post if you plan to assist with wreath removal.

Over the past five days, our group was fortunate to obtain twelve reservations for wreath placements. Even though the 2020 process was so restricted and so different, it was still a very emotional and honorable event. I would like to thank all of our members who volunteered. Sincere thanks, as well, to the Young Marines, their family members and mentors who gave us a huge assist on Sunday, December 20th, when we placed 250 Grave Specific wreaths. These Grave Specifics included all known military men and women (117), interred at Fort Logan, who were Killed In Action, Killed In Service or died as a result of their Service (from all wars).
Best wishes to each and every Colorado PGR member.

We will be pleased to be joined by fifteen Sea Cadets for Wreath Removal, on Saturday.
I plan to be there.
There are still plenty of open reservations for volunteers who are available to remove wreaths, this Saturday. We will be removing wreaths from the oldest sections within Fort Logan National Cemetery. We will be staging at the Fort Logan Visitors Center at 9:30AM and will begin the removal process by 10:00AM. The goal is to complete our work by 11:00AM. We will provide instructions at the briefing before we begin, but, we will be removing only Wreaths Across America Wreaths, no other Holiday decorations will be removed by our team.
I will be there.
Ron
Audrey, the goal for both placement and removal is to limit the number of volunteers per one hour time slot and to make sure there is sufficient space between volunteers. This process may work next January.
Thanks for the suggestion.

I posted the following to Facebook, but, I know that not everyone uses social media.
Approximately 10,500 sponsored wreaths were placed at Fort Logan National Cemetery during the period of November 16th through November 20th. All National Veterans Cemeteries list what they consider to be notable graves. I believe that every grave is notable, but, some graves do carry special significance.
The Fort Logan graves that are generally highlighted are three Medal Of Honor Recipients (one from the Civil War and two from the Vietnam War), two US Marine Corps Navajo Code Talkers, seven Buffalo Soldiers, a Tuskegee Airman, the Enola Gay B-29 Tail Gunner, the first person buried at this Cemetery (in 1889) and a German POW who died in 1943 while a captive at Fort Logan.
Our members were able to insure that wreaths were placed on each of the above graves. In addition, on November 20th, members of the Colorado PGR, along with a unit of Young Marines, insured that wreaths were placed on 117 graves of the heroes who were Killed In Action, Killed In Service, or those who died as a result of their Service. This listing was provided to us by a Gold Star Father. Our group was able to place a total of 260 wreaths that were grave specific requests.
Although the wreaths placed this year were about half the number of those that were placed last year, it was an inspiring event and we felt fortunate to have been able to participate in a relatively significant way, even under very strict Coronavirus guidelines.
In order to get off to a quick start and because the number of sponsored wreaths were down significantly, this year, all wreaths sponsored through a registered WAA Sponsorship Group will be matched by WAA HQ for placement next December. This wreath matching offer will be available through January 15, 2021.
The Colorado PGR Sponsorship Groups are listed below. CO0070P supports wreaths placed at Fort Logan, Fort Lyon and Pikes Peak National Cemeteries. CO0003 supports wreaths at the State Veterans Cemeteries in Grand Junction.
