The Colorado Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to Stand In Honor at the Funeral Service for USMC Major Tobin "Toby" J. Lewis at 10:00AM on Friday, September 15, 2023 at the Mission Hills Church, 620 Southpark Drive, Littleton, 80120.
37 year old, Major Lewis, was one of three Marines killed on August 27th when their Marine Medium Tiltrotor (Osprey) Aircraft crashed on Melville Island, North of Darwin Australia. Three Marines were hospitalized and another 17 were injured.

MAJOR TOBIN J. LEWIS
Major Lewis was born and raised in Conifer, Colorado. He studied Aviation at Liberty University prior to commissioning in 2008. Following completion of the The Basic School in 2009, Second Lieutenant Lewis reported to primary and intermediate flight training in Milton, Florida. He was designated a Naval Aviator in 2012 after completing advanced flight training in Corpus Christi, Texas.
In the fall of 2012, Captain Lewis completed initial MV-22B training at MCAS New River and subsequently checked in to VMM-365. In 2013 Captain Lewis deployed to Moron, Spain in support of the first Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force (SP-MAGTF) where he served as a schedule writer in the Current Operations Department and as the Adjutant.
Captain Lewis deployed a second time with VMM-365 (REIN) in 2014 on the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) as a schedule writer and Navigation Officer.
Upon return from the 24th MEU in 2015, Captain Lewis was assigned to VMM-265 (REIN) in Okinawa, Japan. After arrival, Captain Lewis quickly completed Aviation Safety Officers (ASO) course and was designated a Night Systems Instructor. While assigned to the Dragons, Major Lewis deployed three times on the 31st MEU served as the Squadron Aviation Safety Officer (ASO), Director of Safety, Standardization, and NATOPS (DSSN), and Executive Officer.
In the fall of 2018, Major Lewis was assigned to VMMT-204 as an MV-22B Fleet Replacement Squadron Instructor (FRSI). In addition to training the next generation of V-22 pilots for the Marines, Navy, Air Force, and Japanese Ground Self Defense Force (JGSDF) Major Lewis served as the Assistant Operations Officer and Aircraft Maintenance Officer.
In early 2022, Major Lewis executed orders to Marine Aircraft Group 24(-) aboard Marine Corps Base Hawaii. There he worked in the operations department until assuming his role as the Executive Officer of VMM-363.
Major Lewis has logged over 1800 military flight hours, including over 1500 in the MV-22B. His personal awards include Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with gold star and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.

Sincere appreciation for the US Marine Corps Service of Major Tobin Lewis. The loss of someone who served and sacrificed is tragic and all Patriotic Americans are forever in their debt. Thankful for the sacrifices made by their families, as well. These Heroes gave up so much in order to preserve our freedoms and to ensure our safety and security. They have earned our recognition and respect. They will be greatly missed, but, will never be forgotten. May their family and friends achieve peace along with our enduring gratitude.
