The Colorado Patriot Guard Riders have been invited to stand in honor for Col. Victor 'Vic' Fernandez, US Army Retired and Vietnam veteran, for his interment service on Wednesday, October 13th, 3:00pm at Pikes Peak National Cemetery, 10545 Drennan Rd., Colorado Springs, CO.
Vic served in the US Army for 30 years, as a West Point Graduate, Army War College Graduate, and Command and General Staff college Graduate. He served 2 tours in Vietnam, and also served in 2 tours in Panama, 2 in Germany, and many stateside assignments. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Clusters, the Army Commendation Medal with five Oak Leaf Clusters and the Defense Superior Service Medal, among others. Following his retirement was very active in the veterans community. He was the primary driving force behind getting the need recognized for and spearheading the effort for the creation of the Pikes Peak National Cemetery in southern Colorado, an effort he stayed focused and dedicated to for over 20 years until its opening.

Prayers going up for the families and friends of Col Victor Fernandez. A friend to many Veterans in his boundless effort to get a National Cemetery in Colorado Springs. His 20 years of being focused on the Pikes Peak National Cemetery and Dedication and 30 years of Service to this country during and after Vietnam. His favorite saying: "It's for the Veterans".
